Took a day's R&R off the writing, ignored the fog and drizzle, and walked some of the Prince Henry Track. Quite a few wildflowers are out, and I'd forgotten the amazing range of tea-trees (leptospermum spp.) they have here. And of course, the fabulous tree ferns are to die for.
But in the superb category are the white-browed scrub wrens, who were literally hopping around my feet (okay, I stood still and watched). How beautiful they are! And so combustibly cute! I'd forgotten how much I loved the call of the currawongs too - even more eerie in the fog.
Birds seen: grey currawongs, kookaburra, white-browed scrubwrens.
Apologies: the date should read: 14 October 2011
