A few raindrops

31/3/2013

View to East, MtBS
Hooray! It can rain! Not much (well, this IS South Australia), but we've had a bit over 5mm (total) in the last few days. WOW!

I know it's laughable compared with the rain that continues to drench Queensland, NSW and NT, but hey, we'll take it! And it's amazing what that wet stuff does - the scent of the bushland is intoxicating, the air is crisp and clean - and the views! The pic on the left is a view to the east from the entrance road. Yes, it really did look this beautiful!

Hope you all had an enjoyable and safe Easter, especially those who've had a 4-day break. Adding more pics today. Bird report below:

As for the MtBS birds, quite a few are beginning to mark out their territories, while others are congregating en masse - like they did this time last year. The honeyeater brawls are expected, but it's the groups I find interesting: fantails, thornbills (yellow-rumped) and wrens together in one area; RBFs, wrens, fantails and shrike-thrush in another (and maybe striated t-bills). Seen: the above, plus rosellas, curras, y/f h/es (doing well), clogs, GW, sulphurs, corellas, ravens, magpies. Heard: pardies, spiney, kookas.

Tracks walked: circuit and quarry.

Seen (and/or heard) at 3/8: Shrike-thrush in garden (YES!!) followed by an express chase of the neighbour's cat (GRRR!), spiney, pardies, fantails, clogs (of course), 2 x wagtails (McKenny St, Summit Rd) - both still alive.

Writing: Plotting out the new/revised scenes - I'll make that extra 10K+ without padding (which I wouldn't anyway). But it's been a frustrating writing weekend - couldn't get done what I'd planned (stuff outside my control...grrr!)

Dr Who last night! Back to work tomorrow.

Happy writing
Bo

    Author - Bo Henley

I have two writing passions - crime fiction...and thrillers with a slight twist. Of course, if I tell you what the twists are, I'd have to kill you (see: The Crime Novels). There are rumours that I also write non-fiction with a science flavour, but I deny everything  (No, I don't. See: About Bo). And when I'm not writing, I LOVE reading (see: Bo is Reading).
